本編前には、今回の上映作品の作家でもありニューヨークで活躍されている袖岡由英さんの 、1970年代の先進的なロックの精神と、ギリシャ神話、呪い師シャーマンからインスパイアーされたショートフィルムのシリーズを上映します。23日(金)には、その作品に、電気処理されたトランペットと、電子楽器のDUO石川寧さんと武田理沙さんが即興で音を作ります。お楽しみに!

We have Special video sceenig by Yoshi Sodeoka before the short film screenings. The work was inspired in part by the spirit of 1970's progressive rock concept albums, ancient Greek mythology, and shamanic ritual. On Friday, Yasushi Ishikawa (trumpet,effects unit) and Risa Takeda (synthesizer) will play inprovised sound for the video. Do not miss it!!


Yoshi Sodeoka | 袖岡由英

Yoshihide Sodeoka is a multidisciplinary artist and musician from Yokohama, Japan, who’s lived in New York for more than two decades. Sodeoka’s neo-psychedelic work with video, GIFs and print simultaneously inhabits the world of fine art, music (he’s collaborated with bands like Tame Impala, Yeasayer, Beck, The Presets), fashion (creating art prints for brands and magazines like Sandro Paris, WAD magazine), and advertising (developing projects with brands like Apple and Nike). Sodeoka’s work has been shown all over the world, from Centre Pompidou, Tate Britain, Museum of Modern Art, Deitch Projects, La Gaîté lyrique, Channel 4 Random Acts UK, Baltimore Museum of Art, OneDotZero, Sonar Festival, Haifa Museum Israel, Transmediale and Whitney Museum of America's Art Artport. He’s in the permanent collections of Museum of the Moving Image as well as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. 電気処理されたトランペットと、電子楽器のDUO編成です。普段は各々、クラシック、ジャズ、ロック、アンビエントなど広いジャンルで活動しています。互いの音に呼応しながらイメージを膨らませてゆく演奏を得意としています。今回は、N.Y.を拠点に活躍されているYoshi Sodeokaさんの映像に合わせて即興で演奏いたします。

今季は、誰にもありがちな人の名前を忘れてしまった時の心理を描く、オスカー受賞監督クリス・ランドレスによる最新のアニメーション 「潜在意識のパスワード・クイズショー」、サンダンス受賞作品でイスラエルの、身近にあるもので身近な人の死を描いたドキュメンタリー、FUTURE SHORTSおなじみのスウェーデンの監督パトリック・エクルンドのオスカーノミネート・コメディー「アブラカタブラの代わりに」、その他カンヌやサンダンスなどの上映作品から選りすぐりの9作品をどどっと上映。

STAFF RIDING

Staff riding, the local slang for train surfing, is a widespread phenomenon in South Africa. Katlehong is one of the largest townships in South Africa and has played a key role in the history of the struggle against apartheid. In a context where violence, rampant poverty, abuse of alcohol/drugs and infant birth/AIDS are the masters, the train surfing is configured as the search for a social redemption that will never come for the characters of this story.

Light Motif is an experimental computer graphics short film. It is conceived as a synaesthetic experience based on a visual transposition of music for 18 musicians – section II, by the American composer Steve Reich. The ambition of the film is to cinematically capture the extraordinary life force that animates this essential work of contemporary music by offering a truly hypnotic experience where music can be “seen”. Participated in Encounters Short Film Festival, Giffoni International Film Festival.

Tomas prides himself on his act as an amateur stage magician – with unsuccessful tricks which include sawing a woman in half. Nominated for an Oscar at the Academy Awards.
