４半期ごとに世界60カ国160都市で同時期に開催されるFUTURE SHORTS FESTIVAL。世界の映画祭から今季選りすぐりの作品を上映します。東京で14季目となる2015年夏シーズンは、クロアチア、フィンランド、ギリシャ、イラン、フランス、USA、オランダ、リトアニアからの8作品。ブルターニュに嵐が来た、てんてこ舞いデタラメの熱狂とロマンスのアニメーションから、サラエボ1993年に誕生日を迎えた少女の一日、またクレルモンフェラン短編映画祭受賞作のベルギーの独身３人兄弟のコメディーなど８作品を一挙上映します！上映前には世界の演劇に影響を与える、フランスジャック・ルコック国際演劇学校でトレーニングを受けたカンパニーによるパペトリーのライブストリーミングあり、ドリンクも飲みながら、リラックスした雰囲気でお楽しみいただけます。

Showcasing the most exciting short films from around the world, Future Shorts Festival takes place in over 160 cities and 60 countries. This Summer Season we present you 8 short films from Croatia, Finland, Greece, Iran, France, USA, Netherlands, and Lithuania. Also we have Live streamed performance by Paris' Lecoq trained theatre makers "Trunk & Egg"  before the screening, and you can enjoy the films while drinking cocktails (300yen) in a relaxed atmosphere.
The films are subtitled both English and Japanese.

Stray Dogs

The Chicken

It's Sarajevo, 1993. As a present for her 6th birthday, Selma gets a live chicken. The Tree

Notes from Sare: The story is about a woman and a tree, both of them belong to a land. They want to be there even during the war, because they rooted in their land. The Noisemaker

Having shrunk throughout the years, the school lacks two pupils to satisfy the governmental quota established for any school in the country to exist. Emergency Calls

Schoolyard (Proavlio)

On July in Athens. Using experimental means, the filmmaker generates an unsettling frenzy of images which poses quite a few questions to her audience. Absolute silence in the deserted classrooms. Still in their uniforms, they playfully spray each other with water. But in this game, you play till you drop.　ギリシャの７月。誰もいない教室、ペンが静かに落ちる、バスケットボールが外れる・・。まだ制服を着たままの生徒たちは水風船を投げ合って遊んでいるが、このゲームは倒れるまで続く。実験的な手法の動揺し錯乱したイメージで、作者はたくさんの質問を観客に投げかける。（実験的）

Storm Hits Jacket

A storm reaches the shores of Brittany. Nature goes crazy, and two young scientists get caught up in the chaos. Espionage, romantic tension, and mysterious events clash with enthusiasm and randomness. 嵐がブルターニュの海沿いにやってきた。自然は狂い、２人の若い科学者は混乱に巻き込まれている。スパイ行為、ロマンチックな緊張、不思議な出来事が、熱狂的にでもデタラメにぶつかり合う。(アニメーション/コメディー)

Company Biography

We are Trunk & Egg, an international ensemble of Lecoq trained theatre makers dedicated in bringing to life Ikea STORM lampshades. We use a highly physical, visual based style, heavily influenced by our studies on maskwork and object manipulation, due to our theatrical training and as a natural response to the different nationalities within the group. Through the animation of a simple everyday object our goal is to affect a whole range of emotions; making theatre which can be understood no matter what language you speak or how old you are. We search for the joy in creation and attempt to share that joy with the audience.

Member
Trunk & Egg is made up of four members; Bendik Nordgaard and Chriss Therese Gjerde Granberg (both Norwegian), Eric Zimmerman (a French American) and Jock Maitland (a Scot). We met whilst playing around during our two year training at the Jacques Lecoq school of Theatre in Paris and it was here that Trunk & Egg was first conceived. It was a simple meeting between two other-worldly creatures (a Trunk and an Egg) for an exercise in creating the mysterious on stage. We discovered that if the Ikea STORM lampshade was worn over the head and arms, it produced a creature with legs at one end, and a snout like sensory organ at the other. The lamp’s form creates an object with such strong directionality that the audience comprehend with clarity the Trunk’s intentions. This ‘snout’ gives an animalistic curiosity which as humans we immediately relate to, whilst the simplicity of the form bestows it with an innocence and sensitivity, endearing it to the viewer.

Description of Piece
The performance is based around the concept of communication. How do we communicate, with whom, and why? The theme will be explored using Trunk & Egg’s signature creatures, the Trunks. There will however be no Egg.

The trunks rely on a heavily visual language of movement, gesture and physical expression. They are on the one hand incomprehensible, bizarre and alien creatures whilst at the same time deeply rooted in the animal world. We begin to recognise the most basic of animal instincts and movements, and as humans we begin to relate and to understand them. We begin to see characters and their desires, success and failure. We begin to see life itself and in turn, we see ourselves. 


Video Work
'Truncated Debate' - A playful look at the Scottish Independence debate, explored through music, physicality and Ikea furniture. Performed for National Theatre of Scotland's Five Minute Theatre 2014 in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris.

私たち“トランク＆エッグ（幹と卵）”はルコック国際演劇学校でトレーニングを受けたいろいろな国からのシアター・メイカー達の集まりで、IKEAのランプシェードSTORMに 命を吹き込むことに、ひたすら打ち込んでいます。物質とビジュアルを基本にしたスタイルで、マスクや物体の操作の研究から強い影響を受けています。それは 私たちが受けたシアター・トレーニングからだけではなく、違った国籍が集まったグループ内では自然な方向性でした。私たちは、日常にある単純な物に動きを 付けることによってあらゆる種類の感情を呼び起こす、話す言葉や年齢に関係なく理解されるシアターを作ることを目的としています。私たちは作る喜びを探 し、その喜びが観客の皆さんに伝わるように試みています。

メンバー
トランク＆エッグは４人のメンバー：ノルウェー出身のBendik Nordgaard と Chriss Therese Gjerde Granberg,　フレンチ・アメリカンの Eric Zimmerman 、そしてスコットランド出身の Jock Maitlandで構成され、４人はパリのJacques Lecoq school of Theatreでの2年間のコースの間に出会い遊び歩く仲でした。このトランク＆エッグのアイデアを思いついたのもここでした。ミステリアスなステージを作るというエクササイズの為に、トランクと卵という２つの別世界の生き物が出会うというアイディアでした。私たちはイケアのSTORMランプシェードを頭と腕にかぶると、一方は足を持った生き物に、そしてもう一方は感覚をもった長い鼻のような器官になることを発見しました。はっきりと向きを作り出すことができるその形によって、観客はトランクの意図を明確に知ることができます。この鼻のような形は、人間に通ずる動物のような面白さを持つ一方で、単純な形な故に無垢な感じと繊細さを持ち、また見るものに親しみを感じさせます。




今回の作品
今回のパフォーマンスは、コミュニケーションをコンセプトにしています。私たちはどのように、誰に、なぜコミュニケーションをとるのか。このテーマをトランク＆エッグの特徴的な生き物たち、トランクを使って探求します。ところで卵はいません。

トランク達は動き、ジェスチャー、身体的な表現によるビジュアル言語を多く使用します。それらは一方では、理解しがたく、奇妙で、異質な生き物ですが、それと同時に動物の世界とも深く繋がっています。私たちは、もっとも基本的な動物の本能と動きを認識することから始め、それを人間の視点で関連づけ理解をしました。そしてキャラクターたちの欲望や成功や失敗がわかるようになり、命そのものそして、私たち自身を理解し始めることとなりました。




ビデオ・ワーク
“不完全な議論”は、スコットランド独立の議論を、音楽、体、そしてイケアの家具を使って、面白い視点から探求する。フランスのブローニュの森で行われた、スコットランド・ナショナル・シアターの ”5分間シアター2014”のために作られたビデオです。

TWO FILMS ABOUT LONELINESS

A split-screen stop-motion animated film. The split screen divides the worlds of Jonathan Smallman who is recording his dating profile, and Philip Button, the Internet chef.　Edinburgh International Film Festival 2014 Nominated, Sundance 2015 Nominated / 『孤独についての２つのフィルム』(イギリス:2014) 2つの画面に分かれたストップモーションでのアニメーション。１つはデーティングサイトに登録の最中のジョナサン・スモール・マン、１つはインタ(ーネットで自分の料理を紹介するシェフのフィリップ・バトン。エジンバラ映画祭2014、サンダンス映画祭2015ノミネート。

EXCHANGE AND MART 
Dir: Cara Connolly & Martin Clark | UK 2013 | 15min. | Drama 
A remote Scottish boarding school is home to Reg, a lonely and yearning teenage girl. The handsome chainsaw-wielding tree surgeon, and the sinister and unorthodox self-defence instructor, are the only men in this world. Berlin International Film Festival 2014 Nominated / 『エクスチェンジ・マート』 （イギリス:2013）コットランドの全寮制の寄宿学校がレグの家。孤独で思慕する女の子。かっこいい樹木医と、不吉で型破りな正当防衛の先生が、彼女の世界で唯一の男性。ベルリン映画際2014ノミネート。

本編前には、今回の上映作品の作家でもありニューヨークで活躍されている袖岡由英さんの 、１９７０年代の先進的なロックの精神と、ギリシャ神話、呪い師シャーマンからインスパイアーされたショートフィルムのシリーズを上映します。２３日（金）には、その作品に、電気処理されたトランペットと、電子楽器のDUO石川寧さんと武田理沙さんが即興で音を作ります。お楽しみに！

We have Special video sceenig by Yoshi Sodeoka before the short film screenings. The work was inspired in part by the spirit of 1970's progressive rock concept albums, ancient Greek mythology, and shamanic ritual. On Friday, Yasushi Ishikawa (trumpet,effects unit) and Risa Takeda (synthesizer) will play inprovised sound for the video. Do not miss it!!
